Site B and C Newsletter - July 2025

Westminster City Council is launching the co-design phase for Sites B and C

We want the regeneration plans for Church Street to deliver the new homes and community facilities the neighbourhood needs. At the same time, we want to review the existing designs and work with the community to make sure they meet the expectations of residents. Working alongside our newly appointed design team we’re inviting you to shape how these sites evolve, this includes revisiting aspects of the current designs and, where needed, exploring revised options that reflect shared ambitions. You can get involved in several ways, including attending workshops that will look in detail at different parts of the design for Sites B and C. We are putting together a programme of these workshops, with the initial set running from September to December. People who participate in these workshops will be remunerated for their time. Along with these workshops, there will be many different ways for you to have your say.

How can I find out more

If you would like to register your interest in participating in these initial workshops, please click here and submit your details by 29 August. If you don’t have access to a computer or a smartphone, please visit the Regeneration Space (56 Church Street, NW8 8ET) so we can sign you up at 56 Church Street, NW8 8ET.

What’s Happening Now and Why?

You will have seen that demolition works are already underway at Site A, the first of the 3 large sites in the Church Street Regeneration Programme. Sites B and C already have outline planning permission, which sets the overall framework for development.

As part of the recent Church Street Check-in, residents generously shared a wide range of feedback including a desire to revisit aspects of the illustrative design for Sites B and C, such as building height, daylight, car parking, green and play spaces, and how local shops and facilities will serve the growing community. Residents also support a stronger Church Street identity going forward. Residents also, supported better homes for current Sites B and C residents and more affordable homes for those waiting on the Council’s housing lists.

As promised, we are inviting residents, businesses and other key stakeholders to help shape the future of these sites working alongside our recently commissioned design team. This includes re-examining elements of the existing plans and detailed design. If the proposals differ to what’s permitted under the current outline planning permission, the Council is open to submitting a revised application that better reflects the shared ambition and vision. The process will take place in stages, and relies on collaboration between residents, businesses and our teams, setting priorities and exploring designs to agreeing shared outcomes together. Your involvement is key ensuring the proposals and new homes and places we are creating will work well for the whole Church Street resident and business community.
