Ground Breaking Ceremony marks major Milestone for Church Street Regeneration
A significant milestone for Site A was reached following a ground-breaking ceremony held on site, attended by the Lord Mayor, councillors, Church Street Partner Mount Anvil project leaders, and local stakeholders on Friday 13 February.
The Lord Mayor and Councillor Ormsby marked the moment by symbolically breaking ground with a silver shovel along with Mount Anvil signalling the beginning of the project.
Cllr Ellie Ormsby, Cabinet Member for Regenerations and Renters said
'A good home is the foundation of a good life. It provides stability, dignity and the security people need to thrive. We are building 430 new homes, 50% of them will be affordable, and 70% of those will be for social rent for people on the waiting lists. We’re providing the spacious, energy-efficient homes they so badly need.'
The ground-breaking event marks the first visible step in transforming the site and delivering new much-needed homes.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING YOUR SAY ON THE Co-DESIGN PROCESS FOR CHURCH STREET SITE B & C

In November 2025, we shared an update on the co-design process for sites B and C, showing how the Church Street community has worked together to strengthen the plans for the new homes, community spaces and market facilities as part of the regeneration scheme. We wanted to know if you thought the co-design process is moving us in the right direction.
The co-design work aims to make changes and improvements to important parts of the previous Outline Planning Permission plans. Better daylight and sunlight, more space between buildings, and new community spaces are just a few of the improvements the co-design work is bringing about.
LISSON GROVE PROJECT UPDATE

Over the past year, we have spoken to more than 540 residents about plans for the new homes and Health & Wellbeing Hub. We have listened carefully to your feedback and made changes to the design. The height of the buildings has been reduced, while maintaining the same amount of green and open space. The ground floor of the Health & Wellbeing Hub will be co-designed with the community. In response to residents’ suggestions, the GP facilities have been moved to a lower level.
If you would like to find out more, please join us at a drop-in session in March.
LISSON GROVE STUDIOS - A NEW CREATIVE SPACE

Last month saw the long-anticipated opening of our second enterprise space on Lisson Grove. Lisson Grove Enterprise Space offers local creatives and businesses 38 affordable workspaces, business support and employment opportunities for local residents.
Alongside the creative work studios, there are also 22 co-working spaces, shared meeting a room, large exhibition space, a communal café and studio space for group activities.
Lisson Grove Studios is a great addition to Church Street and is now our second enterprise space after the successful launch of Church Street Triangle in 2024.
The space is managed by Arbeit Studios.

KSA CAREERS DAY SUPPORTED BY CHURCH STREET PARTNERSHIP
For the second-year running, Church Street Site A Partner Mount Anvil attended King Solomon Academy careers week (2 to 7 February) which gave the opportunity for students to talk to the team and find out what it’s like working for Mount Anvil and the wide-ranging roles.
The team was on hand to answer any questions and talk about their Makers and Mentors initiative programme. Amy, who works as a Community Engagement Executive, said 'it was great to create awareness of the variety of roles/career paths within the built environment. Many students came to our stall thinking that construction was being on-site with a hard hat and left with the knowledge that there are so many more avenues within the industry.”
If you’d like to find out more about work experience or the Makers and Mentors programme with Mount Anvil, email [email protected] or call 020 3603 8241.

Would you like to take part in Westminster’s Markets Policy and Strategy Refresh survey, which is now live on our engagement platform? Westminster City Council is currently reviewing and refreshing our Street Trading and Markets Policy as part of the wider Street Markets Transformation Programme. Given the important role you play in shaping local place-based policy and representing community interests, we would very much welcome your views.
The survey can be accessed here: Westminster Markets Survey
The survey will close on Sunday 1 March. Feedback received will directly inform the development of the draft policy ahead of formal statutory consultation later in the year. Thank you in advance for your support and engagement.
